December 31st, 2007 by admin

You have decided to put in a garden area in your backyard, but you are not quite sure where to begin. Well, do not get frustrated because there is a simple way to give your garden a decorative focal point, and that is by putting a weathervane in it.

Okay, you might be thinking, a weathervane, aren’t those just for on top of the roof, and even though one would be a great addition up there, you can put them anywhere throughout your outdoor space. The reason being is that they are available in a wide variety of sizes. You can get full bodied ones that are big (about three and a half feet tall) and these would be the ones that you place on your roof. There are medium sized ones (two feet tall) that would look wonderful on any garage, garden shed, and porch. And, there are those that are smaller in size (less than two feet) perfect for putting on fence posts, clotheslines, and even a dock.

In your garden area, all three options would work well and which one you get depends on how big or small you want your garden to be. Like, if you want a quaint garden area, you could get a weathervane that is smaller in size and use that for the focal point in the space, building the landscaping up around it including mulch, shrubs, and flowers. And, basically, you could do the same thing with the larger and medium sized ones as well, creating an eye-catching garden area that will really have the neighbors jealous.

Along with all the different sizes, there are also a wide variety of styles and designs that a weathervane can have. For example, maybe you like country styling and the farm, then a great choice for you would be one of the farm variety depicting chickens, pigs, cows, and horse figurines. Not into farms, but still like nature? Then, a great option for you are ones that have depict scenes right out of nature like flying geese, pheasants, trouts swimming in the sea, and even bears, moose, and deer.

Or, maybe you just want something a little decorative, well, there are a lot of ornamental pieces that feature lovely shapes and designs. Really, there are a slew of different options from those just mentioned, to others like trains and motorcycles, and even golfers, fire hats and hoses, sailboats, college teams, and garden fairies. For a great way to see all the options, instead of heading down to your local gardening center, just hit the Internet and do a little online shopping. It is extremely convenient and you can compare prices of products without even leaving your house. Now, it cannot get any better than that.

So, if you are stumped as to how to start building your garden area, just turn to a lovely weathervane. There are many fantastic options to choose from, making it easy to create a beautiful space that shows off your personal style.
